Hi, I’m Shelby
I was born in College Station, Texas, and grew up in the small town of Navasota. I then attended Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, earning my Bachelor of Social Work in 2019. After graduation, I relocated to North Carolina and completed my Master of Social Work at Fordham University in 2020.
In April 2021, my husband’s military service took us to Hawaii, where I worked within the military community, providing therapy to service members, spouses, and families. I obtained my Clinical Social Work license in June 2024, and shortly after, we moved to the Greater Houston area. Today, I offer virtual therapy to clients in both Texas and Hawaii, striving to make mental health support more accessible while breaking down the stigma surrounding traditional therapy.
I live with my husband, our two daughters, and two cats. In my free time I love going to pilates, watching TV, or wandering Target and Homegoods.
Approach
My approach to therapy is person-centered, strength-based, and humanistic. I meet you where you are, offering support, encouragement, and a safe space to grow. I know that vulnerability is difficult, and building trust takes time—but together, we can face challenges and work toward healing. While we set goals and explore the reasons you're here, I recognize that healing isn't linear. Goals and plans can evolve, and that's okay.
What sessions look like
I believe in experiencing life alongside my clients. I bring authenticity, humor, and directness to our sessions, and I fully support showing up in comfy clothes (and with snacks!). I will follow your lead in sessions while also challenging your thoughts and helping you become your best self.
Goals
I believe that everyone seeks therapy for a reason. Most often, it’s for one (or more) of the following reasons:
Seeking a listening ear – A safe space to vent and feel heard.
Working toward goals – Having support, accountability, and guidance to achieve personal growth.
Healing from the past – Exploring history and trauma to find closure, heal, and better understand yourself today.
